Is that a GoPro Black? No its a Bomb!!!

A Few months ago i wrote about how ‘Consumer’ UAVs are helping less well funded armies fight the big boys, in particular how the Ukrainian Army was using DJI Phantoms to help fight ‘Separatists’ in places like Donestsk – Ok lets call it Dronestsk from now on!

Well, as per, there are people with far better journalistic talents, and contacts to get even closer to the action. Well the guys at the Guardian News Paper have actually been out and met the Ukrainians using Crowd-funding and Private Business to help even the odds.

3D Home Printed Drones – The Future?

Wow, this is a news story right up my street, combining my two of my favourite elements of 21st century tech…. Personal UAVs and 3D Printers!

I read a report a few months ago, about Drones being donated to the Ukrainian Army, to aid their fight against supposed Russian Separatists, well this article suggest they have taken Drone manufacturing to the next level.

I came across this article earlier today, but as my second child, Angelica Olive was born this morning, I haven’t had chance to do my research into the story, I will make a point of finding out more tomorrow, but until then, click the link and have a read.

This quote sums  up how 3d Printers could change the Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, over the next few years.

Approximately 90% of all the parts in each of the 30 drones are in fact 3D printed on any of the three machines that the lab has acquired. The 3D printers themselves cost just $1,600, and are currently used 24/7, producing these battle drones as well as other gadgets.
